English Speaker's Mistake Ten

He may be sick a loooooooong time!

Here is another excuse written by a parent to his or her son's teacher:
"Dear School: Please ekscuse John being absent on Jan. 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, and also 33."  
Explanation: Yes, this is a real excuse from a real parent somwhere. I guess "excuse" is not easy to spell (it does SOUND like ekscuse!), but everybody should know that there are no months with 33 days! Maybe this parent was just trying to be ready in case John was sick for a long, long time. For example, until we get a new calendar!
